A weeklong Artist in Residency setting a brave space for success, learning and going to the edge of rhythms. The students learned about body percussion, drums and percussion instruments from all over the world and how to play them. They then took this learning to the drums and percussion instruments. Many smiles, learning that that can play the drums in community with one another. We also, sang, moved and rocked to the rhythms of the drums.

To hear the sounds around you, watch the clouds float by and notice your breath. I’d like to invite you to take a moment to pause and, “allow your ears to be your eyes,” (Pauline Oliveros) during the sound meditation. Allow care and nurturing to be in your daily practice.

Six zero gravity chairs are available for the first six people that invest at the $50 level. This session is fragrance free. Tickets are nonrefundable and cannot be forwarded to future sessions. March, we will have a group outing for those that are interested in participating, allowing ourselves time to let our hair down and relax. If you’re interested, please contact me because we are purchasing group tickets. This gathering invites all African American women and girls (age 12+) of the African Diaspora, are personally invited to have a seat at the table and join the creative session. This circle is for Black women and girls of Alaska to create community, be seen, heard and supported. No virtual or childcare available at this time.
